ibiza.blog exists because of a specific frustration: almost everything written about this island is written by someone who was here for four days in August, or by nobody at all. The result is a search results page full of the same twelve beaches, the same three clubs, no prices, and no indication of whether the writer had ever stood in the place they are describing.

This site is the other thing. It is written on the island, year-round, by one person who lives here, and it is opinionated on purpose. If somewhere is not worth the money we say so. If a famous thing is better at six in the evening than at noon, that is the headline rather than a footnote. Every price carries the month it was checked.

Who writes it

Elena Marí has lived on Ibiza for nine years, between Santa Gertrudis in the interior and Ibiza Town. That means February as well as August: the almond blossom, the closed restaurants, the winter storms that rearrange the north-coast beaches, and the specific misery of the airport road on the second Saturday of August.

The perspective this site is written from is a resident's rather than a travel writer's. It is less glamorous and considerably more useful. It also means being honest about the island's problems — the water table, the housing market, the roads — rather than selling a fantasy that depends on ignoring them.

We would rather tell you not to bother than sell you a disappointing afternoon.

How the site is funded

Three ways, all disclosed. Display advertising appears in fixed positions between sections, never inside a paragraph and never as a pop-up. Affiliate links to accommodation, car hire and experience platforms earn a commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you, and are disclosed above the first link on any page that carries them. The newsletter is free and its list is never sold or shared.

What we do not do: accept payment for inclusion in a guide, accept free stays or hosted meals in exchange for coverage, publish sponsored posts dressed as editorial, or let a commercial relationship change a ranking. How guides are made

Every guide follows the same process. Visit in person, more than once, in at least two different months. Pay for everything. Photograph it. Check the prices against the menu, the car park sign or the operator's own site on the day of writing. State a verdict in the first two hundred words. Include what we would skip. Then re-check the whole thing at least twice a year, and change the review date only when we have actually re-checked.

Corrections

Prices move, restaurants close and roads get resurfaced. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change. Corrections are made to the page itself rather than quietly overwritten — the review date at the top of every guide is the audit trail. Use the contact page.
